Court Approves NextEra Abatement

The Hill County Commissioners Court approved a tax abatement agreement with Hubbard Wind II during a meeting held Tuesday, April 9.

The project is the second NextEra Energy Resources development in the southeastern portion of the county and will include up to 108 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 300 megawatts of energy.

Mike Dixon, the county's economic development counsel, explained that the company's projected capital investment for the project is $399,500,000, and it is located in the Bynum Independent School District. The project should be completed by September 2026.

Three separate reinvestment zones totaling 19,400 acres were created for the development, although not all of the property included in the zones will be leased for wind turbines.
